1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy governs how you may use deadcalm.io. By using our service, you agree to these rules. Violation may result in account suspension or termination without refund. This policy governs use of deadcalm.io, a service operated by AFFINITYOPS LLC.

2. Permitted Use

deadcalm is designed for legitimate uptime monitoring of websites you own or are authorized to monitor. You may use the service to:

  • Monitor the availability of your own websites and web applications
  • Receive alerts when your monitored sites experience downtime
  • Track uptime history and incident records for your sites

3. Prohibited Use

You may not use deadcalm to:

  • Monitor sites you do not own or control without authorization from the site owner
  • Conduct DDoS reconnaissance -- using monitoring data to identify targets, measure response capacity, or map infrastructure for the purpose of launching attacks
  • Monitor illegal content -- sites hosting illegal material, phishing pages, malware distribution, or content that violates applicable law
  • Evade rate limits -- creating multiple accounts to circumvent monitor limits, check frequency restrictions, or any other plan-based limitations
  • Abuse the monitoring system -- submitting URLs designed to exploit our probe infrastructure, consume excessive resources, or interfere with service to other users
  • Resell or redistribute the service without written permission
  • Monitor competitor sites to harvest availability data for commercial intelligence purposes or competitive benchmarking without the site owner's permission
  • Use monitoring check logs or response time data to facilitate, tune, or plan denial-of-service attacks against monitored infrastructure

4. Rate Limiting

Check intervals are determined by your plan. Do not attempt to increase check frequency beyond your plan's allowance through any technical means. We enforce rate limits to protect both our infrastructure and the sites being monitored.

5. Monitoring Impact

Our monitoring probes make standard HTTP requests to your sites. If a site owner asks us to stop monitoring their site (e.g., because our probes are being flagged by their firewall), we will comply. If you are monitoring a site and its security systems block our probes, we will notify you and provide guidance on how to whitelist our monitoring.

6. Enforcement

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy. For minor violations, we will attempt to contact you before taking action. Severe violations (DDoS reconnaissance, monitoring illegal content) may result in immediate termination without notice.
